Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

QUARTER CENTURY: Birthday Edition!

QUARTER CENTURY: Birthday Edition!

This month marks another magnificent milestone in my life. I turned 25! Or more precisely, I've completed 25 cycles around the sun!

A few close girlfriends joined me for brunch at Beatrix's newest Chicago location in Streeterville to celebrate this special occasion. Simply reading through their menu made my mouth water. The wide variety of savory ,healthy, low-calorie options, made Beatrix my number one choice for a Saturday morning indulgence! My friends and I all agree that we would recommend this place to friends & family, and loved our experience so much that we would come back again!!

I bet Beatrix just moved to the top of your "must-brunch-here" list! If the menu hasn't convinced you, then the ambience surely will. I especially love Christmas decorations, and Beatrix's minimalistic play with light and sparse placement of square (yes, square!) wreaths was just perfect!

We rounded out our brunch with Yasmin Gutierrez's most notable "Oh My, Caramel Pie!!" For dessert, I typically default to the more traditional chocolate cake and ice cream, but Laura and Lisa had me convinced on trying this specific dessert, especially because it's one of Chicago's must-try desserts! What a great decision! The pie was smooth, not too sweet, and decidedly rich! Absolute indulgence!

With stuffed stomachs, we made our way over to the AMC Theatre to watch the highly anticipated performance of our favorite comedians, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (with a special appearance from Maya Rudolph), in their newest movie, "Sisters!"

Lines like, "Will you not drink tonight so I can let my freak flag fly?" and [the sisters are clothes shopping for the party] "We need a little less Forever 21 and a little more Suddenly 42" had us roaring in our seats with laughter. Despite, the formulaic and predictable progression of the conflict, the entertainment factor from seeing Tiny and Amy adopt characters opposite to how they are in real life, is worth the watch! I'll probably be watching it again pretty soon!

I'm thankful to have spent my birthday with these amazing ladies, and can't wait to see what adventures this next year has in store!
