ON MY RADAR
Showers and blooms. Sandals and sun. March is a month of celebration and fun!
Whether you celebrate Easter or Nowruz, the refreshing presence of new beginnings is undeniable. While work continues to be a perpetual loop of routine, I've managed to spend some of my spare time organizing, cleaning, and pairing down on material possessions. Sure, there have been some exciting new purchases, but overall I've managed a net export of unused clutter!
Here is what's been on my radar this week:
ONE // Growing up as a child, my mom made it a point to take me to all the Chicago museums during summer break. However, since being away for college and now, having a full-time job, I haven't had time to renew this childhood passion --- until last week! I finally took advantage of the Art Institute's free Thursday evenings. A great break to a mundane week. Take a look at some of my favorites:
TWO // Continuing the theme of childhood passions, my Book Club is currently reading "Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar," by Cheryal Strayed. You may have heard of her late last year after the release of Reese Witherspoon's movie, "WILD." "WILD" is based on a novel that is also written by Strayed and I cannot recommend the book or the movie enough! Strayed empathizes with writes in exactly the way we hope someone would, when we share with them our most intimate concerns. Her responses recognize no boundaries of political correctness, of weary appropriateness, or of self preservations. She is naked. What I love so much about her writing is that you can feel the genuine honesty in her words; I think she's able to offering truly comforting advice because she's not afraid to show the own ugliness in her life. MUST READ!
THREE // I keep finding new ways to encourage myself to stay hydrated throughout the day, especially on long bike rides. This week a surprise came in the mail, and I've been beyond excited to use it. I love my Cotopaxi teal water bottle. The amazing thing about this bottle is that it maintains the temperature of water really well. There have been reviews sighting that ice in the bottle, on the hottest summer days, stays cold and in ice form throughout the day!
FOUR // Favorite New Hulu TV Shows that You Should Also be Watching: Blackish, The Goldbergs, Fresh Off the Boat, and 11.22.63.
FIVE // Second City never ceases to provide perfect Saturday night entertainment. Last weekend a few of my close college friends and our significant others met up for dinner at Cafe Ba Ba followed by OK Cupid's experiment on online dating, called #DateME. The show runs through the end of May and is bound to make you say, "Yup, so true!" served with buckets and buckets of laughter!
